Some ads we don’t want to skip.
Hi, my name is Ben, and I’ve been obsessed with ads since I was 12. This is one of the first video I published: it’s a collection of fake ads for IKEA, Playmobils and a pencil sharpener. Yes, it makes no sense.
I grew up analyzing my favorite ads. A lot of them were from Adam Lisagor. His ads felt genuine, like referrals from good friends. I collected them all in a private doc, which eventually became Adsnack.
Here are 3 reasons why ads should be taken more seriously:
- Ads are an art form: they are constrained to be short, they need to be memorable and they have to be selling something. Clear constraints to be creative!
- Ads are fascinating because they are great lessons about psychology.
- Ads are precious because they are time capsules. They are rare artifacts of creativity meets capitalism.
